The Cécile & Boyd’s Foundation was founded by designers, Boyd Ferguson and Mia van Wyk, in June 2011. The Cécile & Boyd’s brand is inspired by the movement towards social design across the globe as well as the idea of giving back to society. Through using our design knowledge and experience, as well as the psychological and therapeutic qualities of colour, our aim will be to uplift children through the creation of ‘safe’ spaces with the hope of re-engaging children into their schools and society. The Foundation focuses on creating beautiful, harmonious and uplifting spaces in underprivileged areas in and around Cape Town to create awareness that even the simplest element, like colour, can be used to transform, encourage, heal and give hope to societies. Our aim is to enhance and install a series of spaces every year that will be used for the benefit of children, connected with a specific school or organization, or a community.

We have just finished and delivered our latest project yesterday to Nomlinganiselo Primary School in New Crossroads, Nyanga. See the process below of converting an ordinary second hand shipping container into a children friendly library space.
